EURECAT is the leading technology centre in Catalonia and the second-largest private research organization in Southern Europe. With a turnover of 69 million euros, EURECAT has a client portfolio of more than 2,000 companies. Currently is involved in 134 international projects, including 86 major projects under the H2020 and Horizon Europe programs, 13 of which coordinates. EURECAT is also a key player in various R&D programs funded by the Spanish and Catalan administrations, with over 100 active projects. Technology transfer is also an essential activity, with 200 patents and 10 spin-off. EURECAT’s R&D, innovation, and training activities span a wide range of fields, from industrial to digital technologies, biotechnology, and sustainability. Additionally, the European Commission has been designated EURECAT as a Technology Centre for Key Enabling Technologies (KETs), allowing it to collaborate with SMEs in research and innovation activities close to the market. EURECAT is one of the promoters of the Hydrogen Valley of Catalonia. Currently is involved in different projects throughout the value chain of hydrogen technologies including production, transport and storage, and use. It also leads the RDI H2CAT network for the valorization of hydrogen technologies. Eurecat combines capabilities of different technology units to give added value to all projects, allowing companies to innovate and move towards the decarbonisation of society.

Principales líneas de negocio de la entidad

  • Production: Development of electrolyzers and components; pyrolysis processes, gasification, anaerobic digestion, dark fermentation, plasma, photocatalysis.
  • Storage: Multi-material tanks: modelling and design; Fluid dynamic studies; Material properties; Printed sensors.
  • Use as a Vector: Fuel cells and their components, integration with renewables and thermal applications.
  • As raw material: reactor design and process scale-up, e-fuels and chemicals.
